The decision to lease out 15000 acres of lands in Hambantota district had been during the tenure of the previous government. Minister Rajitha Senaratne had added that knowing for certain the fate of the Rajapaksa family in the year 2017 the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is spreading fabricated stories that the government will be sent home.
On the decision of the government to lease out 15000 acres of land from the Hambantota district, Minister had added further in this manner elaborating more on this issue.
"The Mattala International airport and the Magampura port are both white elephants. Although no income is generated the monthly loan installments for the huge borrowing obtained need to be paid.
In this context the government has taken steps to relinquish the Hambantota port to a Chinese Company and 15000 acres would be leased out as investments to them".
To a question raised by the media personnel about the possibility of the government crashing in the midst of these severe criticisms, the Minister had said that there is a bit of a tremble but it would not collapse.
Answering to another question the Minister Senaratne had quipped that for the judiciary process for violation of human rights and for war crimes no foreign Judges would be called upon. This in regard to proposals made in view of peace and harmony where a foreign Judge would have to participate.in hearings. In the aspect anyone could bring forward proposals but the stance of the government would not change.
Answering to a question that the former President had stated that the Minister had supported the Bodu Bala Sena organization he had quipped that the Beruwela calamity was masterminded by former defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who was supported by the former deputy inspector general police Anura Senanayake
Speaking further the Minister Rajitha Senaratne had quipped that it is a question to himself on the verdict of the special Jury in the Nadaraja Raviraj killing. According to the verdict one would assume that after killing his security guard Member of Parliament of the Tamil National Alliance for the Jaffna districr Nadaraja Raviraj may have shot his security guard and killed himself..
