To operate by land and air, it will have 24 helicopters to be provided by Airbus, and 1,050 ambulances and 240 disaster vehicles by Benz.
Visiting health minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne was given the promise by officials of the German government, banks and the two companies.
The minister thanked Germany for the service that is similar to the ambulance service already in operation by India.
He said the investment in this regard will be on a low interest rate. The human resource needed for the ambulance service will be Sri Lankan, with the required training given in Germany.
