PM returns after successful tour of Finland

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe returned home yesterday (11) after concluding a tour of Finland that will bring many economic benefits to Sri Lanka. His visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and to celebrate the centenary of Finland’s independence.

He left on the 09th as the first Sri Lankan premier to tour that country. During the trip, MoUs were signed to obtain Finnish assistance to set up vocational training centres, provide tabs for 200,000 higher education students and to provide wi-fi facilities islandwide.

UNP sources reject rumours spread by the joint opposition that Wickremesinghe had cut short the tour, due to end on the 15th, following the summoning of ministers Kabir Hashim and Malik Samarawickrama before the bond commission. The two ministers abided by the summons and gave statements to the commission, said the sources.
