Agreements at president, PM, speaker meeting
President Maithripala Sirisena, prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and speaker Karu Jayasuriya had a meeting at President’s House yesterday. In the beginning the president said he has received complaints from the ministers that they could not work with the PM, and hinted a change in the position.
Jayasuriya noted the country was unstable following the political situation that has arisen after the mini polls. Clashes within the government should be resolved through discussion but first of all the country should be made stable. The president and the PM agreed that problems between the UNP and the SLFP should be resolved through discussion and that attempts by conspirators should be defeated.
They decided the 2015 people mandate has not changed and that the promises given should be fulfilled. Wickremesinghe will continue as the PM. The two also decided there should be a cabinet reshuffle, most likely tomorrow. The trio will meet again to discuss problems.
