Fishermen advised to remain cautious for 48 hours

Thundershowers and strong winds are expected over the next 48 hours in North-Central, Southern, Uva and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka after a low pressure area was identified in the South coast, the Meteorological Department announced.
According to the Met Department, “It is likely to develop further and move to West- Northwestward, towards the Arabian Sea.
Under the influence of the system, showers or thundershowers with cloudy conditions are expected to continue over most parts of the island and surrounding sea areas.” Wind speed reaching up to up to 45-50 kmph and heavy falls up to 75-100 mm can be expected.
The Met Department has also requested the fishermen to stay away from venturing into the sea for the next 48 hours.
