Deputy solicitor general under pressure by minister over Sajin Vaas
Deputy solicitor general Thusith Mudalige is under continuous pressure by a government minister not to pursue legal action against ex-MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena, according to reports reaching Lanka News Web.
Mudalige is a skilled officer in the AG’s Dept. He is in charge of the files of Sajin Vaas and former Ports Authority chairman Priyath Bandu Wickrema. The former, who claims himself to be the confidential financial advisor of Mahinda Rajapaksa, is accused of money laundering and of having misused vehicles belonging to the Presidential Secretariat.
The CID has completed the investigations and handed over the files to the AG’s Dept.  However, the minister in question is pressuring the DSG not to take the necessary action. Sajin Vaas is getting MSD security through this minister too.
The present government took office with the promise of taking legal action against thieves like Sajin Vaas. But, its ministers are now protecting him. The minister should immediately stop protecting Sajin Vaas, or else we will have to expose his base attempt to the country.
