Fonseka’s swearing-in halted following Maithri-Mahinda meeting

Two days ago, president Maithripala Sirisena met with his predecessor Mahinda Rajapaksa at a home of his brother Dudley Sirisena. There, Mahinda made an outright request from the president, that is not to give the law and order ministry to Sarath Fonseka.

“We will give you any support. Keep Ranil as the premier and continue with the government. We will not disrupt it. But, our only request is don’t give law and order to Fonseka. If he is given it, everything will be ruined.”

Previously, it was said Fonseka would be sworn in after the cabinet meeting tomorrow (06). Now, that is unlikely to happen.

Meanwhile, the DIGs who own luxury apartments in the Monarch Residencies are frightened that Fonseka will be given the ministry. They repeat what Mahinda told Maithri. They know that Fonseka has details of the rackets they had been involved, such as drugs. They do not want to see him appointed the minister.
