Royal College saved by the rain!

The annual ‘battle of the blues’ between Royal College, Colombo and S. Thomas College, Mt. Lavinia ended in a draw a short while ago. S. Thomas could not achieve a certain victory as the rain intervened, with Royal College in trouble, losing eight wickets within the space of 52 runs and having to face 20 mandatory overs.

In their first innings, Royal College made 255, and S. Thomas replied with 357 for nine. In their second innings, Royal College was reeling at 154 for eight when rain stopped play.

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was among the many politicians present to watch the proceedings. Given below are pictures taken on the occasion.
