US extends full support to new PM Wickremesinghe

Julie Chung, the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka said she will be looking forward to working with new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe.

In a tweet, the US Ambassador extended her congratulations to Wickremesinghe, adding that his appointment as the Prime Minister and the quick formation of an inclusive government are the first steps to addressing the crisis and promoting stability.

The US Government is encouraging meaningful progress at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and long-term solutions that meet the needs of all Sri Lankans, she added.
