Reginald Cooray resigns from his post as Rupavahini Chairman

Date:

Reginald Cooray has reportedly resigned from his post as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation. Handing over his official vehicle, Mr. Cooray has bid farewell to the Rupavahini employees and left the premises.

The government had decided to change the chairs of state media bodies and the chairs of the Independent Television Network (ITN) and Selacine Television Institute were changed recently.

Reports claimed that Sonala Gunawardena, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Library and Documentation Services Board, is to be appointed as the new Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation. Meanwhile, Cooray has been proposed to be appointed as the Chairman of the Library and Documentation Services Board, reports added.

Cooray, on the other hand, commented that he will agree to any swap of chairs in between bodies. He added that he will never be accepting such a post.

Meanwhile, some reports went on claiming that Cooray had met with government leaders and tried to secure his chairmanship. In response, the government leaders had agreed to provide him a chairmanship of a state body which is much important than the Rupavahini Corporation, the reports added.
