Every decision is made for the future of the children: PM

The newly constructed three storied building of Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala was handed over to the students today (06) under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Addressing the occasion, the Prime Minister stated that the government is taking all of its decisions to make a better future for the children. The necessary facilities should be provided to the children whilst appreciating their talents and encouraging them to move forward, he added.

With the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic, more and more children are using modern technology for their education, he went on, adding that technology can be used for both good and bad. Therefore, the children and their parents and teachers have the responsibility to use technology only for the right cause, the Prime Minister noted.

He added that more grants have been allocated for education this year than ever before and that steps have been taken to solve the issue of the salaries of school teachers as well.

Children also have a responsibility to make the most of the opportunity and become needed citizens of the country and the people, Rajapaksa noted.

Coinciding with the event, a special commemorative stamp of Rs. 25 was issued to mark the 75th Anniversary of Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya.

The Prime Minister also promised that he will intervene in providing camera equipment which are needed by the school’s media unit.
