We cannot make the covid vaccine compulsory for the people, but we can make the vaccination card compulsory! – Keheliya

The Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella states that the Ministry of Health does not have the ability to make the covid vaccine compulsory for the people of this country. The Minister states that there are no relevant legal provisions.

However, he says that it has been decided to make the vaccination card compulsory and that there are legal provisions to prevent people from entering public places who do not confirm that they have been fully vaccinated.

Speaking to the media in Kandy, Keheliya Rambukwella stated that those who received the booster dose are considered to have been fully vaccinated.

The Minister of Health says that the vaccination for 12-15 year olds commenced today (07) and not only school teachers, non-academic staff but also parents of school children will be able to receive the booster dose from these vaccination centers.
