Showers expected in several provinces: Misty conditions may appear (Jan 25)

January 25, Colombo (LNW): Showers will occur at times in Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts, the Department of Meteorology said today (25).

Several spells of showers may occur in North-western province.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the early hours of the morning.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Condition of Rain:
Showers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Mannar, Kankasanthurai and Trincomalee. Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island in the evening or night.

Winds:
Winds will be easterly to north-easterly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph.

State of Sea:
The sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
