State Minister of Tourism proposes abrogation of laws barricading Night Life (VIDEO)

Date:

State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage addressing a tourism promotion event in Weligama yesterday (08) said certain laws of Sri Lanka barricades the promotion of Tourism Industry, and therefore, need abrogation.

“These are not so difficult to achieve, the Night Life I speak of. If this is a paradise, people should have a 24-hour availability in Sri Lanka to eat, drink, walk, tour, join musical concerts, cultural concerts, and everything. At least, these should be made available in tourist zones,” Gamage emphasised.

The State Minister went on: “We have a Supreme Court ruling that all loudspeakers be removed and turned off after 12 am midnight. I am hoping to discuss this with the honourable Justice Minister and the honourable Attorney General to repeal it. I will do it within this month by submitting an appeal. Because otherwise, we cannot do this. Investors will not come if we behave like thugs in this country. They turn back. All these should change. This is the time. We can do anything, nothing is impossible.”
