USAID agrees to donate 36k MT of TSP: Agriculture Ministry

Date:

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has agreed to donate 36,000 metric tonnes of triple super phosphate (TSP) for paddy farming in Sri Lanka, revealed the Agriculture Ministry.

The donation comes in following weeks of crisis leading to the inability of locating grants to purchase TSP for this year’s Maha Season, the Ministry added.

Nonetheless, the donation by the USAID will pave the way for the government of Sri Lanka to distribute free TSP to farmers for the next Yala Season, the Subject Minister said during a review meeting on fertiliser distribution.
