July 16, Colombo (LNW): A few showers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Mainly dry weather will prevail over the other areas of the island.
Strong winds about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Matale, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
Marine Weather:
Condition of Rain: A few showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Galle via Colombo.
Winds: Winds will be south-westerly. Wind speed will be (40-50) kmph and can be increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar. Wind speed will be (30-40) kmph and can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the other sea areas around the island.
State of Sea: The sea areas off the coasts extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Kalpitiya to Kankasanthurai via Mannar will be rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will be fairly rough at times.
The wave height may increase about (2.0 – 2.5) meters in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
