July 16, Colombo (LNW): The Court of Appeal has reserved its decision on whether to grant leave to proceed with a petition seeking the postponement of the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination, with the ruling scheduled to be delivered on 23 July.

The petition was submitted by a group of students preparing to sit the forthcoming A/L examination, who have requested judicial intervention to delay the examination schedule.

When the matter was taken up today (16), the Court of Appeal heard submissions from counsel representing the petitioners as well as the Attorney General’s Department, which presented its response on behalf of the relevant authorities.

Following the hearing, the appellate court bench announced that its determination on whether the application merits further consideration will be issued on 23 July 2026.

The forthcoming decision will determine whether the petition will proceed to a full hearing or be dismissed at the leave stage.
