July 19, Colombo (LNW): Police arrested 706 individuals during the islandwide ‘Ratama Ekata’ operation carried out on July 17 as part of an ongoing drive to combat crime and strengthen public safety.
According to Police, officers conducted a total of 708 coordinated raids across the country during the special operation, targeting a range of suspected criminal activities.
Authorities said investigations have been launched into the assets of one suspect believed to have accumulated wealth through unlawful means. In addition, detention orders have been obtained for 11 individuals to facilitate further questioning and ongoing investigations.
Police also confirmed that four suspects have been referred for rehabilitation under the relevant legal provisions, while inquiries into the remaining arrests are continuing.
