X-Press Pearl Disaster: Indictments handed over to eight persons including Captain

Indictments were handed over to eight persons including the captain of MV X-Press Pearl, in connection with the environmentally disastrous events followed by the blaze that took over the cargo vessel near the Colombo Port last year.

The indictments were handed over as the case was taken up before the Colombo High Court yesterday (25).

One suspect was released on two personal bails of Rs. 01 million each as per the order of the Court.

The suspects’ overseas travels were banned, and their passports were possessed by the Court. The suspects were also ordered to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on last Sunday of every month.
