August 03, Colombo (LNW): A post-mortem examination into the death of an inmate connected to the unrest at Mahara Prison was carried out today (03) by a panel of Judicial Medical Officers at the mortuary of the Ragama Teaching Hospital.
Medical findings concluded that the inmate died as a result of severe blood loss, according to information released following the examination.
The deceased’s body was later released to family members in Wattala this afternoon, allowing funeral arrangements to proceed.
Meanwhile, the relevant authorities are continuing their inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
