September payments under the Aswesuma welfare programme will be credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts today (16), according to the Welfare Benefits Board.
Under the first phase of the programme, a total of Rs. 9.18 billion will be distributed among 992,053 beneficiary families.
Meanwhile, 213,335 families receiving assistance under the second phase will receive a total payment of Rs. 2.12 billion.
Welfare Benefits Board Chairman Nimal Kotawalagedara said beneficiaries will be able to access the funds through their Aswesuma bank accounts from tomorrow (17).
