September 29, Colombo (LNW): Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser and MP Namal Rajapaksa has been ordered to remain in custody in connection with two separate investigations involving the controversial Airbus and Krrish transactions.
The Fort Magistrate’s Court has extended Rajapaksa’s remand period until 13 October as authorities continue proceedings relating to the Airbus deal, in which he is alleged to have been involved.
Separately, the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered that Rajapaksa be further remanded until 6 October over proceedings linked to the Krrish transaction. The case was initiated by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
Rajapaksa appeared before the Fort Magistrate’s Court on the morning of 29 September for proceedings concerning both the Krrish transaction and the ongoing investigation into the Airbus deal.
In the Krrish case, CIABOC has listed Rajapaksa as the fourth suspect in proceedings before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court. The allegations relate to a controversial financial transaction that has been under investigation by the anti-corruption authorities.
