Kusal Mendis to Lead Sri Lanka in Pakistan ODI Tri-Series

October 04, Colombo (LNW): Kusal Mendis has been appointed captain of Sri Lanka’s 16-member ODI squad for the upcoming tri-nation series in Pakistan, where the island nation will face hosts Pakistan and England.

The tournament will follow Sri Lanka’s ongoing T20I commitments in Pakistan, with the national selectors opting for a blend of established international players and emerging talent for the 50-over campaign.

Mendis will lead a squad featuring opening batters Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando, along with Kamil Mishara, Pavan Rathnayake, Sahan Arachchige and Kamindu Mendis.

Janith Liyanage and former captain Dasun Shanaka are also included, while the bowling group features Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Sachindu Colombage, Dushmantha Chameera, Asitha Fernando, Dilshan Madushanka and Eshan Malinga.

Sri Lanka Cricket said Nissanka’s participation remains subject to medical clearance. He will join the team for the tournament only if he is declared fit to play.
