Woman Wanted Over ‘Kajja’ Triple Murder Brought Back to Sri Lanka from Dubai

October 27, Colombo (LNW): A 34-year-old woman wanted in connection with the murder of a man known as ‘Kajja’ and his two children has been returned to Sri Lanka from Dubai, arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake early this morning (27).

The suspect, identified as Achini, also known as Anosha Lakmali, is a resident of Katuwana in Middeniya. She had reportedly been living in hiding in the United Arab Emirates before being arrested by Dubai security authorities and placed in custody.

A team of Sri Lankan police officers took charge of the woman and escorted her back to the island aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL-226, which arrived at approximately 5.20 a.m.

Upon her arrival, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) questioned her and recorded a statement at the airport. She was subsequently transferred to the CID headquarters in Colombo under tight security for further investigation.

Investigators are examining the nature of the woman’s relationship with ‘Kajja’, whom she is alleged to have known closely, as well as her possible involvement in the events leading up to the killings.

According to information uncovered during the investigation, the suspect allegedly made the final telephone call to ‘Kajja’ and sent him the last text message before the fatal incident. Police are also investigating claims that she invited him and his two children to a restaurant for a meal, allegedly acting on the instructions of an underworld figure known as ‘Backhoe Saman’.

The three victims were subsequently shot dead after arriving at the restaurant, according to the investigation.

The woman’s return to Sri Lanka is expected to allow investigators to question her further about the communications, the alleged invitation and any links to those suspected of planning or carrying out the killings.

Police are continuing their inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the triple murder and determine the roles, if any, played by other individuals. The allegations against the suspect remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
