Heavy Showers Above 75 mm Expected in Several Provinces Today, Met. Department Warns

The Department of Meteorology has said fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely in several parts of the island today (04).

Showers or thundershowers are expected in most areas after 1.00 p.m., with some locations in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, North-Western and Southern provinces, as well as the Mannar District, likely to receive more than 75 mm.

The public has been advised to take adequate precautions against temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers to minimise possible damage.

Misty conditions are also expected in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.
