University of Colombo Partners with Information Department to Promote Quality Media Culture

The Department of Media Studies at Sripalee Campus, University of Colombo, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Information Department to foster a culture of quality media. The signing ceremony, held in the presence of Transport, Highways, and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana, saw Media Ministry Secretary Anusha Palpita and Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Senior Professor H. D. Karunaratne, exchange the agreement.

Government Information Director General Dinith Chinthaka Karunaratne and Sripalee Campus Rector Dr. Pratibha Mahanamahewa were also in attendance at the ceremony, demonstrating the collaborative effort to enhance media education and promote responsible media practices.

The partnership aims to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and resources between the Department of Media Studies and the Information Department, facilitating research, training, and capacity building in the field of media. By working together, the institutions strive to cultivate a media culture that upholds standards of accuracy, professionalism, and ethical reporting.

This collaborative initiative underscores the commitment of both the University of Colombo and the Information Department to nurture a vibrant and informed media landscape in Sri Lanka, ensuring the dissemination of reliable and credible information to the public.
