Health workers besiege Health Ministry – Riot Control called

Date:

Trade Unions responding to the Health Sector who are engaging in the ongoing strike action have arrived at the Health Ministry.

Health workers protesting near the Colombo New Town Hall have marched to the Ministry but were not allowed to enter the premises. The protesters thereafter have raided into the premises and waited in their continuous demonstrations.

Amid the havoc, the Riot Control has also been called to control the situation.

Health workers in several grades have gone on strike, demanding solutions to a number of issues including salaries, and yesterday they had marched to the Health Ministry by foot and held discussions with the Minister.
