Person who abducted his own son dies by police shooting

A man who abducted his own son, fired up in the sky and fled in Horana area has died in a police shooting in Bellapitiya, Anguruwathota, Police said.

The man, named Eshwarage Don Neelaka Sandaruwan, was a resident of Ilimba, Horana.

According to the Anguruwathota Police, he was a suspect wanted for many crimes.

The man forcibly taken his eight year old son from the custody of the grandmother this morning and fled, after which he was shot dead.

A search is underway for the child, according to reports.
