CEB takes responsibility for recent nationwide blackout

Date:

Colombo (LNW): The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has officially accepted responsibility for the recent island-wide blackout.

During a presentation before the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), CEB officials acknowledged their role in the disruption.

The CEB’s admission of responsibility marks a significant development in addressing the aftermath of the power outage.

Professor Manjula Fernando, Chairman of the PUCSL, announced that the commission will convene to discuss the next steps in response to the CEB’s presentation.

The island-wide blackout occurred on December 9th, triggered by a lightning strike on the critical Kotmale-Biyagama transmission line.
