President’s Office denies Premadasa’s offer

The President’s office has informed Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa that his offer to accept the post of Prime Minister has not been accepted.

Sources in the President’s office confirmed that when Premadasa spoke to the President he was informed that as he had refused the post previously and that the decision had been made to appoint an individual who was capable of commanding the majority in Parliament due to the continuing political instability in the country.
