May 09 Assault: AG instructs to arrest 22 suspects including Johnston Fernando, Deshabandu Thennakoon, Mahinda Kahandagama and Dan Priyasad

The Attorney General has instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to arrest 22 suspects in connection with the brutal assault launched on the peaceful protests held in GalleFace.

Among the suspects are Ruling Party MPs Johnston Fernando, Sanath Nishantha, Milan Jayathilake and Sanjeewa Edirimanne, Mayor of Moratuwa Saman Lal Fernando, Senior DIG Deshabandu Thennakoon, Chairman of the Federation of Self-Employed Mahinda Kahandagama and Dan Priyasad.

Excerpts from the investigation into the assault had been forwarded to the AG and the above instructions were given considering the excerpts.
