President appoints Commission to probe into unrest followed by political instability

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed an Invsetigative Commission to probe into the unrest occurred from March 31 to May 15 following the political instability occurred in the country.

The Commission is chaired by Supreme Court Justice B.P. Aluvihare and President’s Additional Secretary Buwaneka Herath will be serving as the Commission Secretary. The Commission comprises of former Senior Deputy Inspector General S.M. Wickramasinghe, and Additional Chief Assessor N.A.S. Wasantha as members.

The appointment letters for the Commission were handed over at the President’s House today.

The President has instructed the Commission to submit a report following investigation.
