Electricity Amendment Bill to be tabled in Parliament tomorrow – Electrical engineers to launch strike?

Date:

The Electricity Amendment Bill will be tabled in Parliament tomorrow (09) for sure, said Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara, alleging that those who oppose the bill are a group of engineers against renewable power generation.

The Minister revealed that some electrical engineers have even sent him letters implying threatening that the whole power supply in the country could drop.

Meanwhile, the Engineers Association of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has decided to step down from their duties from midnight today in objection to the proposed bill.
