A 40-year odyssey: Four friends, one unbreakable bond

Date:

For four friends, life began in the bustling corridors of Nestlé Lanka—three in sales and one as a medical delegate. Over four decades, their paths diverged into leadership, entrepreneurship, and public service, yet their shared values—integrity, curiosity, resilience, and brotherhood—kept them aligned.

Deepal’s journey defines a brand of enduring leadership: from Sales Representative to Managing Director, and today Country Head of Nestlé. Under his stewardship, the Nestlé Bangladesh market expansion and regional influence have grown, driven by a commitment to excellence.

Anil charted a complementary course: Entrepreneur, MD and CEO of LakArcade, founder of LakArcade, and holds various high positions in government. His leadership in the private and public sectors has shaped strategic initiatives and economic development.

Asoka remains a steadfast professional who forged ahead in leading roles, maintaining senior positions as a director in multiple organizations while contributing to governance and industry growth.

Nuwan’s path bridges academia and industry consultancy. As a university marketing lecturer and strategic adviser, he continues to mentor the next generation of marketers while driving business outcomes.

Together, they demonstrate what’s possible with a relentless pursuit of excellence, mentorship, and a supportive family life.

Each is blessed with fulfilling marriages and accomplished children—doctors, engineers, marketers, and lecturers—bolstering a culture of learning and service. Ashoka’s wife, a CEO of FedEx Sri Lanka, exemplifies leadership in logistics and global operations.

A memorable reunion on 24 December 2025 took them to Galle, including a visit to LakArcade to celebrate progress, followed by a warm dinner at Closenberg Hotel with 35-year waiter Neel, who added a touch of nostalgia to the evening.

This is a testament to long-term professional development, family harmony, and the enduring power of friendship. To Gen Z and aspiring professionals: build your life through continuous learning, diverse experiences, and a network that uplifts you. The journey from sales floors to boardrooms—and beyond—begins with curiosity, perseverance, and a shared sense of purpose
