Litro Gas Lanka Limited has called a fresh LP gas tender for the year 2023 tentatively commencing from November 2022 from eligible and qualified bidders to meet the demand of domestic consumers.
The latest tender is for 280000 MTs and bidders should submit their bids on or before August 15 2022 to the Chairman of the Standing Cabinet appointed Procurement Committee, Litro Gas Lanka LTD,according to the bid document.
The online pre-bid meeting will be held on August 05 and the bidders are required to register before that date ,a senior official of the Finance Ministry said.
Litro Gas Lanka ha staken every possible action to supply LP gas filled cylinders to consumers via its network of 42 distributors, approximately 14,000 point-of-sale locations and 1,500 home delivery hubs,a company official said.
He noted that over 100,000 LP Gas Cylinders were distributed to the local market on Monday August 01.
He said the supply will continue despite inclement weather conditions, adding that the shortage has been eliminated to a greater extent.
Litro has received over 10000 MTs of LP Gas in three shipments in July and a large-sized tanker carrying 25,000 of gas is scheduled to reach the Colombo Port soon
Sri Lanka has received 3,700 metric tonnes of LP gas, the first consignment out of the 33,000 metric tonnes of LP gas ordered for the month of July, a President’s media division statement said.
This will be the final consignment out of the 33,000 metric tonnes of LP gas ordered for the month of July in accordance with the tender to procure 100,000 MT of LP gas for the next four months.
Litro Gas Lanka Ltd has placed the order to procure 100,000 metric tons of liquified petroleum (LP) gas – enough for four months – worth 90 million US dollars, 70 million of which was funded by the World Bank.
The plan is to have the large vessel pump gas into much smaller vessels and ship them to Sri Lanka, he added, noting that the initial payments for the vessels that departed Oman have already been made.
In addition, he said that with the arrival of these shipments, it will be possible to issue a sufficient number of domestic gas cylinders to meet the gas requirements of the country.

A second ship carrying 3,740 metric tonnes of gas arrived on July 11 while a third carrying 3,200 metric tonnes of gas has arrived on July 15.
A litro company official has said the gas distribution has become regular and systematic from July 12 and the problem regarding domestic LP gas demand has been solved to a greater extent by the end of last month.
He noted that six more gas shipments are scheduled to arrive on the island during the coming weeks and months .
