Person accused of instigating acquisition of Presidential Secretariat arrested

A 37 year-old resident of Maharagama accused of being the first person to breach the Presidential Secretariat during the historic acquisition of the government building on July 09 has been arrested yesterday (01).

The suspect had behaved very impulsively during the riot and had attempted to enter the Presidential Secretariat, and the rest of the protesters, invoked by his behaviour, had stormed into the premises by force, Police said.

In the meantime, many other people who had breached the Presidential Secretariat have now been identified pending arrest, Police added.
