Opposition Leader raises Parliament’s attention on UNICEF report on child malnutrition in SL

Date:

Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa today (29) raised the attention of Parliament on the recent UNICEF report on child malnutrition in Sri Lanka, which reveals that the island nation has ranked 06th on a global scale, stating that this would be a very serious situation.

The Opposition Leader also pointed out that while Sri Lanka ranks 06th in child malnutrition on a global scale, it also ranks 02nd in the Asian region. The health authorities, therefore, must have their attention on this matter immediately, he noted.

Revealing that the Cabinet has decided to allocate Rs. 400 million for the preparation of official residences for the government ministers, Premadasa emphasised that measures should be taken to eliminate the hunger of the people, especially the future generations, before spending money on such affairs.
