Rohitha Rajapaksa, the youngest son of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, has admitted that he owns the luxury hotel located near the Sinharaja Forest, which was destroyed by fire during the nationwide disruption on 9th May. In an investigation made by NewsFirst, he said that it is obviously a joint property owned by several people including himself.

Mr. Rajapaksa has further stated that the resort is legally built and if there is any issue regarding that matter, any party has the ability to take legal action.

A party involved in the people’s struggle has filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the ownership of the resort.

Rajapaksa further mentions that some parties are making unsubstantiated and false allegations regarding this hotel, and declared that legal action will be taken against those parties and those persons will be informed to prepare to appear before the court.
