Second reading of 2022 revised Budget Appropriation Bill

The second reading of the revised Budget Appropriation Bill, which was prepared by amending the Budget Appropriation Bill passed for 2022, commenced in Parliament.

The bill was tabled in Parliament by President Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as the Finance Minister.

Beginning the speech, the President noted that many people do not have a proper understanding of the depth of the huge crisis befallen the country.

He emphasised that welfare economy cannot continue and added that the privatisation of loss making public institutions should be a mandatory step.
