An attempt to arrest former President Maithri?

Date:

Sources say that there are plans to arrest former President and Leader of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Maithripala Sirisena in the near future.

It is reported that there are plans to arrest him in connection with not taking action to prevent the Easter Sunday bombing.

Although the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Attack has recommended legal action against Maithripala Sirisena, the government has come under intense pressure from a number of quarters, including the Cardinal, over its failure to take legal action.

Against such a backdrop, the SLPP has expressed a strong view that Maithripala Sirisena should not be defended as he has recently begun to attack the government relentlessly.

Sources say that action will be taken against him soon.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Maithripala Sirisena had also stated with his close associates that he was ready for anything.
