Veteran Journalist Ratnapala Withana passed away yesterday (29) aged 94.
Father to two children, Withana was living in Canada at the time of his demise.
Withana began his career in the 1950s as a journalist at ‘Sinhala Jathiya’ newspaper founded by Sir Anagarika Dharmapala and later contributed to many internationally recognised media platforms.
He was also one of the founding journalists of ‘Lankadeepa’ newspaper.
In compliance with a request made by Withana himself that his rites be performed as quickly as possible following his demise, the last rites will be performed in Canada today (30).
