Medille Thero apologises to Justice Minister – Case into settlement

Medille Pangnaloka Thero, the Chairman of the ‘SinhaLe’ movement, has promised not make any defamatory or insulting statement against Justice Minister Ali Sabry, as a case filed by Sabry against the Thera before the Colombo District Court was taken up yesterday (19).

The case filed by the Justice Minister against the Thera for allegedly making defamatory statements against him and publicising them via Social Media was taken up before the Colombo District Court yesterday, and the Minister had also demanded a compensation of Rs. 1500 million.

The case, however, has reached into settlement as Medille Pangnaloka Thero has apologised to the Minister.

The case was taken up before Colombo Chief District Judge Aruna Aluthge, and the lawyers appearing for both parties stated that they would agree to conclude the case as a settlement has been reached between the two parties.
