Colombo (LNW): YouTube Activist Darshana Handungoda was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) upon his return to Sri Lanka from Dubai.
Handungoda was arrested at the Katunayaka Bandaranaike International Airport last (05) night based on a Court order connecting his alleged involvement in breaching Temple Trees during the heat of the ‘Aragalaya’ people’s struggle.
A probe was launched on the suspicion that the YouTube Activist had encouraged the protesters to breach Temple Trees and Handungoda had been summoned to the CID on a number of occasions in this regard. As Handungoda was absent against the last summoning, the CID had informed the Court of his departure to Dubai, hence the order to make an arrest upon his return.
