Colombo (LNW): A hunger strike will be launched today (27) in objection to the government’s attempt to privatise the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CEYPETCO), as a requested discussion with the President and the relevant officials in this regard met a dead end, revealed the Sri Lanka Free Employees Association.

Union Chief Jagath Wijegunaratne said the attempt to privatise the CEYPETCO is an act of treason.

Objections against recent government movements are growing, as a number of trade unions in several sectors have strongly expressed their displeasure over the Ranil-Rajapaksa regime for failing to positively respond to their demands.
