CBSL Chief takes up responsibility to issue dollars for uninterrupted fuel imports

Date:

Despite the ongoing forex crisis in the country, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Ajith Nivard Cabraal has taken up the responsibility of issuing dollars required for an uninterrupted supply of fuel for the generation of power.

The measure has been taken upon a special discussion held with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, as the CBSL Chief has informed the President that dollars will be issued for an uninterrupted supply of fuel required for electricity.

The Governor has also made a request that the required amount of dollars for fuel imports be informed in advance.

Early plans to proceed with controlled power cuts amid the fuel shortage were halted following the CBSL Governor’s intervention.
