Showers or thundershowers to continue at a few places

Colombo (LNW): Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Eastern and Uva provinces during the evening or night, announced the Department of Meteorology in its daily weather forecast today (25).

Coastal areas of western province and coastal areas of Galle and Matara districts may receive a few showers during the morning, it added.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Marine Weather:

Condition of Rain:
Showers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle.

Winds:
Winds will be south-westerly over sea area around the island and speed will be (20-30) kmph. Wind speed may increase up to (40-45) kmph at times in the sea areasoff the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

State of Sea:
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be rough at times. The other sea area around the island will be moderate.

Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
