Colombo (LNW): The main Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is set to take a disciplinary action against MP Vadivel Suresh who voted in favour of the government’s motion to oust Janaka Ratnayake from his post as the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).

The Party Secretary General MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara said a disciplinary action is to be instituted against Suresh and the matter will be taken into discussion on Thursday (25).

The MP’s decision to vote in favour of the motion violated the decision taken by the SJB, Bandara said.

Parliament passed the motion to remove the PUCSL Chief with 123 votes in favour and 77 against yesterday, and amongst the Opposition MPs and the so called ‘independent’ MPs who voted in favour of the motion was MP Suresh.

Suresh recently dragged himself into hot soup over making several controversial comments in the public which speculated to be favouring the government. His latest comment came in at a public gathering where pledged that he “supports the party of Minister Harin Fernando”, who is a SJBer-gone-rogue.
