It is reported that the post of Chairman of the Lanka Salt Ltd. which was vacated due to the removal of Nishantha Sandabarana will be given to the Mayor of Hambantota Eraj Fernando.
Eraj Fernando has become notorious in the country as the ‘Sellam Pistola Nagaradhipathi’. This is related to the incident where a group of UNP parliamentarians who visited the Hambantota Port and Mattala Airport in 2014 were attacked by thugs.
He had a heated argument with the Chairman of the Lanka Salt Ltd. recently and the Chairman of the Salt Corporation was finally removed from office due to the intervention of a political influence.
Meanwhile, Eraj Fernando has recently told the Deputy Mayor of Hambantota that he will resign from the post of Mayor on February 10th and is preparing to take over the post.
“Minister Chamal keeps pushing me to take over the Lanka Salt Ltd. I will take over and complete the work,” he has told the deputy mayor, sources said.
