Court issues warrant to arrest MP Weerawansa

Colombo (LNW): The Colombo Magistrate Court today (19) ordered the arrest of MP Wimal Weerawansa, as the NFF Leader failed to appear before Court in connection with an ongoing hearing.

The MP is accused of causing public distress by barricading the road in front of the United Nations Office and protesting during the arrival of former Human Rights Commissioner of the United Nations Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad in 2016.

The case was adjourned till September 11.
