Parliament Passes Second Reading of Anti-Corruption Bill

During Thursday’s parliamentary session, the Anti-Corruption Bill successfully cleared its Second Reading, marking a significant step forward in the fight against corruption. The next phase of the legislative process, the Committee Stage, is set to begin on 19 July, as decided in today’s proceedings.

The deliberations surrounding the Anti-Corruption Bill continued for a second day in Parliament, prompting Minister Susil Premajayantha to disclose that the bill’s passage is likely to face a delay. Minister Premajayantha emphasized that the final decision on the bill’s approval will be made when it is presented to Parliament on 19 July, along with proposed amendments.
